car care needs.
Wash frequency: Handwash your car every one to two weeks. Use a two bucket method. Avoid automatic car washes, especially those with brushes. Do not use self service car wash foaming brushes, or brushes of any kind. Touchless car washes and handwashing will not void your SYSTEM X Warranty.
Temperature extremes: Avoid washing your vehicle in direct sunlight or while the surface is hot. This can evaporate the water quickly, leaving the possibility of water-spotting on your car. The heat can also exhilarate the car soap which can dry it onto the paint before it has had time to be rinsed.
Cleaning products:
Auto Shampoo: Use a pH-neutral car shampoo specifically designed for
automotive use.
Wash mitt: Only use premium microfiber wash mitts. Soft sponges also work well.
Avoid brushes and even cotton terry cloth. Always make sure materials are clean
by using a two-bucket method. The second bucket flushes (rinses) dirt before the
mitt is dipped back into the first soap bucket.
Rinsing: Rinse the vehicle thoroughly after washing each section. Don't let soap dry onto the car. Soap or dirt residue will streak. It is advisable to at least use soft water, but it is
even better to use R/O or D/I water without mineral content. This will also help make drying easier. Many self-service car wash bays now offer a spot free final rinse selection. Many also have an in-bay blower.
Drying: Use a clean microfiber drying towel and/or air blower to dry the vehicle. A combination of both works best. Avoid allowing water to dry on the surface. Make sure microfiber towels do not have tags attached to them. A chamois also works well.
Detailing Spray: After drying your vehicle and blowing out the trim, we suggest using our exclusive Body Shine Detailing Spray with a microfiber towel to wipe off drips, missed spots or streaks. This product is also great for quick wipe-downs in between washes. Additionally, System X RENEW Finishing Spray is available for you to use 1-2 times a year. It requires a more careful application than our Body Shine. It is a detailing spray on steroids! Do not apply car wax to your coating. EVER. There is no benefit. It actually lowers gloss readings in our testing.
Avoiding contaminants: Remove bird droppings, bug splatter, tree sap and other contaminants by handwashing as soon as possible. If time doesn’t allow for handwashing, you can use our exclusive Body Shine Detailing Spray and a soft microfiber to carefully and lightly wipe off the contaminants. Please note: the vehicle must be blown off with an air blower first to remove any loose debris.
